Inspiring the Next Generation with Hempstead High School
It's one thing to read about careers in manufacturing. It's another to see them up close and personal. Recently, The Adams Company welcomed a group of juniors and seniors from Hempstead High School to give them a first-hand look into a premier manufacturing company and the wide array of career opportunities available.
This tour highlighted the importance of exposing young people to careers in manufacturing. The industry faces a growing skills gap, making it imperative to reach young people with a passion for creative problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and technical expertise.
Many high school students and their parents still associate the manufacturing industry with outdated stereotypes, fearing the opportunities available are monotonous, dissatisfying, or low-paying. These beliefs overshadow the real-life, proven benefits of careers in trades and manufacturing, such as affordable education, job security, opportunities for growth, and significant earning potential.
Exposing young people to real-world manufacturing spaces helps to bridge the gap between false perceptions and exciting realities.
Stepping onto The Adams Company's floor, the students were immersed in a dynamic, modern manufacturing environment and interacted with engineers, machinists, and makers from all walks of life who are passionate about what they do.
With a 150-year legacy of fostering careers built on growth, stability, and longevity, we are honored by the opportunity to spark inspiration in the next generation of innovators and problem solvers.
